Third Charles tourism DVD unwrapped

Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) head Indranauth Haralsingh lauded the producers of a DVD as one which will show tourist the diversity and attractions Guyana has to offer.

The 2 ½ hr picture DVD, titled Pictures of Guyana, the third in a series was produced by Mike Charles, a press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said. It depicts over 850 still images of Guyana. In his address at the launching at the Guyana International Conference Centre, Haralsingh complimented Charles and his team for the production. He said government fully endorses the images which can be used as a tour guide.

“This photographic journey of discovery targets the potential that Guyana has to offer. It is of the most comprehensive collection of photographs of Guyana ever put together,” he said. The GTA director said the production compliments the various magazines, brochures, websites and other promotional materials that are produced in Guyana and encouraged the public to purchase it. “It can be used as a gift and or presentation at travel trade shows and anywhere else on amazing Guyana. I would also like to urge others to come up with creative ways to promote the country’s potential,” he said.

Meanwhile, Charles said the DVD also encompasses parts of the country under consideration for the Low Carbon Development Strategy and it showcases Guyana in a different way. As regard copyright laws, Charles encouraged persons to support his work by purchasing the original copy. He said that piracy has been a major issue countrywide.

“We launched this in Toronto on June 19 and by the 25 it was bootlegged in most of the corner shops in Canada and I am happy that the press is here so that this can be highlighted since it is a major issue facing society,” he said. GINA said it is Charles’s third production.

GINA said too the ministry’s aggressive campaigns over the years have resulted in Guyana now being touted as the “hottest” new destination in South America.
