Government will construct four new teaching quarters in the hinterland region and the contracts totaling $85.4M have been cleared.
Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon announced at the weekly post-cabinet press briefing last week that new teacher houses are to be constructed in villages in Regions 1, 7, 8 and 9.
Specifically, quarters would be constructed at Sawariwau village, Region 9 ($18.9m); Kamarang, Region 7 ($21.5m); Kwebana, Region 1 ($21.7m) and at Kato, North Pakaraima, Region 8 ($23.3m).
Further, Luncheon also disclosed that contracts have been approved in the health and water and housing sectors. He said that a contract for $29.1M has been approved for the provision of floor care other janitorial services at the hospital. In addition, Cabinet green lighted a $32.1m contract for service connection upgrade at Sophia for blocks A, B and C.
