Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton granted a teenager accused of stealing a dog $20,000 bail when he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
It is alleged that on Monday at Georgetown, Dextroy Brown, 17, of 77 Robb Street, Georgetown stole a dog valued $60,000, the property of Victor Mohamed. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. When the accused attempted to explain himself the magistrate cautioned him; telling him that he would be given an opportunity to do so at the time of trial.
The virtual complainant did not appear in court.
The prosecution asked that the defendant be denied bail as he has previous antecedents. In response the magistrate stated that the defendant’s previous conviction or convictions was not related to the matter for which he currently stands accused.
Brown was ordered to appear in court on August 15 for reports and trial.
