Wounding accused remanded after giving court wrong address

Leonard Fraser, 53, was yesterday remanded to prison after he was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on a wounding charge.

Fraser, who appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, was accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Jocelyn Pilgrim on July 18 at Georgetown. Fraser, who was unrepresented, pleaded not guilty to the charge and he sought to make a bail application on his own behalf. However, being unable to assure the court of a fixed address, he was later remanded to prison.

Fraser told the court that he resided at the Tucville Squatting Area. He further went on to explain that since the area in which he lives is reserved for squatters, there are no lot numbers.

The prosecutor, however, objected to the bail application on the grounds that at the time of his arrest, Fraser was staying at a Lamaha Springs address and not the Tucville Squatting Area.

Fraser was ordered to return to court on September 13 for report on the case.
