Aim cited in editorial too limited

Dear Editor,
It was interesting to read your editorial captioned ‘Uncertainties’ in the August 15 issue of the Sunday Stabroek because it shed some light on the confusing nature of our coalition politics. I was particularly interested in the paragraph dealing with the aim of the Leader of the Opposition. You seem to limit him to a desire to control the presidential candidate and maintain the position of leader of the opposition. I think that Mr Corbin has troubling concerns and aims.

As party leader Mr Corbin will be the Representative of the List. This means that he will decide who will be candidates for the party in the next elections. In this position he could get rid of some well-known and prominent dissidents in the party. This could well be a most convenient toll as the current political circumstances will rule out the use of the power of recall.
Yours faithfully,
