When will the practice of ‘buying’ driver’s licences stop?

Dear Editor,

Over the years the practice of persons paying to obtain their driver’s licence has grown to alarming proportions. Some people complain that they are being deliberately failed so that an extra payment can be demanded for a ‘pass’ the next time they take the test. In other circumstances no test is ever taken; only a payment/bribe is paid.

Editor, I am satisfied that many of the country’s road accidents have been caused by drivers who bought their licences. It is said that the going price for a driver’s licence is $50,000. When will this confounded nonsense stop?

Yours faithfully,
RJ Eleazar
