Ice pick robbery accused remanded

A man accused of using an ice pick to rob another man of a bicycle was on Friday remanded to prison.

It is alleged that on August 18 at Georgetown, being armed with an ice pick, Paul Benjamin of West La Penitence, robbed Anthony Singh of one bicycle valued $18,000. Benjamin was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbery under arms when it was read to him by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The Magistrate granted the prosecution request that Benjamin be remanded to prison and he was later ordered to return to court on August 26 for report.
