Second Linden crash fatality identified

The passenger, who was killed along with pedestrian Christopher Benjamin on Saturday afternoon, in the Kairuni, Linden Highway accident has been identified.

Sigmond Marks, 40, of Block 22, Wismar, Linden is the male passenger in the blue-green Toyota Scarlet Turbo PLL 9021 who died that afternoon. Benjamin, 57, was hit by the car while walking along the road.

The car, an eyewitness had told this newspaper, had just sped over a bridge at the bottom of a hill when it hit a depression in the road causing the driver to lose control.

The vehicle then skidded over into the opposite lane finally coming to a halt in some bushes off the highway.

“All I see deh car bounce out he lane, over deh road crash into uncle Benjie and fly in deh bush,” said a young man who was walking some 500 yards from Benjamin.

Benjamin had just finished helping a family to construct a chicken pen and was returning home when he was fatally struck.
