Stabbed former superintendent stable

Former Superintendent of Police (SP) Rambarran is in stable condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).

The former SP, 82, was rushed to GPH on Saturday evening after he was attacked and robbed by two men in his Waterloo Street, Georgetown home. Police are yet to make an arrest.

When Stabroek News visited the medical institution yesterday Rambarran was resting. A senior police source, who visited the man earlier yesterday, said that Rambarran appeared to be stable and was interacting with his visitors.

Investigations, police said in a release on Saturday, revealed that the incident occurred at about 5.15 pm that day. Two men, they said, were allowed to enter Rambarran’s home after they pretended to be agents of a shipping service delivering a parcel from his daughter who resides overseas.

While in the home, police had reported, the men attacked Rambarran who resisted and was injured with a knife by one of the men. The men also took away $200,000 and escaped.
