T&T searching for win in Panama today

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad,  CMC – Trinidad and & Tobago’s Soca Warriors will clash with Panama tonight as they continue their preparations for the second round of qualifiers in the Digicel Caribbean Cup scheduled for November. The squad, which left here Saturday under head coach Russell Latapy, will take on the Panamanians at the Rommel Fernandez Stadium, Panama City at 8:30 pm (Eastern Caribbean time).

“It’s another opportunity for us to come up against a formidable CONCACAF opponent,” said Latapy.

“Again, everything is in the relation to our preparations for the Digicel Caribbean Cup and we will have the opportunity to see what level we are at against a team that has been improving and doing quite well in the region.” T&T last won in Panama four years ago when they beat the hosts 1-0 during their World Cup qualifying campaign for Germany but their last meeting in the Central American nation in 2007 produced a 2-1 loss.

Their last encounter with Panama finished positively, however, as they eked out a 1-0 verdict at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium last year March. The match will be the first of two in four days for the Trinidadians as they travel to Belmopan to face Belize on Friday.
