Food For the Poor donates to Municipal Day Care Service

Food For the Poor (Guyana) Inc on Thursday donated a supply of foodstuff, furniture and books to the Municipal Day Care Service.

Director of the Service Paulette Bollers said, in a press release, that the council is grateful for the gesture as it will help to enhance the quality of the service it provides. She said the facility provides a social service to mothers who work in the city and the donation comes at a critical time in the Council’s history. In response, FFP Executive Director Leon Davis was happy to support the municipality and pledged to continue to support the day care centre.

The release said too the Service which started in 1921 has about 400 children from ages six months to five-years-old. The centres are located on South Road, Festival City, Charlestown, East Ruimveldt, Industrial Site and Campbellville. The Service also trains care givers countrywide. Also, the centre at Industrial Site is deemed the model Day Care in the Caribbean.
