TV theft accused granted bail

A man accused of stealing a television from another was on Friday placed on $25,000 bail when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

The allegation is that on September 23 at Georgetown, Anthony George, a welder, stole one television set valued $30,000 from Harold Smith, property of the said Harold Smith.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny when it was read to him by the acting chief magistrate.
The virtual complainant was not present at court.

The prosecution had no objection to the accused being granted his pretrial liberty.

George was subsequently placed on $25,000 bail. He was ordered to return to court on October 4.
