Student denies stealing woman’s cell phone

A teenager accused of stealing a woman’s cell phone was on Tuesday admitted to bail in the sum of $25,000 when he appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation is that on September 26 at Georgetown, Jermain Bollers, 18, of 125 Marigold Street, Enterprise, East Coast Demerara stole from Savika Ali one cell phone valued $19,000.

The teenager who attends a technical institute pleaded not guilty to the charge of simple larceny when it was read to him by the acting chief magistrate.

He was placed on $25,000 bail and ordered to return to court on November 1.
