Most residents from the East Coast look forward to going to the drive-in

Dear Editor,

Mr Roshan Khan is once again complaining of noise nuisance emanating from the duck curry event that was held at Starlite Drive-in over the weekend. He was even bold enough to mention the owner of the place where the event was held and one of the sponsors’ names. I have no problem if someone complains about anything that makes them uncomfortable, but their complaints must be holistic.  Since the duck curry competition started, it has become very popular and thousands of people look forward to it and turn out to support it every time it’s held.

Since taking over this country, I would be bold enough to say that the PPP/C government is responsible for making almost all the cinemas in this country close their doors. Mr Maurice Sookhoo, I believe, was the only owner of a drive-in cinema in Guyana, and unlike countless frustrated businessmen and women who sold out their businessplace, this gentleman still holds on to his and is trying to do something with it that Guyanese could appreciate.

It is nice to hear that the event was held until 10 pm, which is the time you normally cease playing loud music. This means that they were not being presumptuous by going beyond the stipulated time granted by the law, as is the case with most dances, live shows, weddings, birthday celebrations, etc.  Most residents from the East Coast look forward to going to Starlite Drive-in because I believe it’s a safe environment with easy access from the road, not to mention spacious.

Yours faithfully,
Sahadeo Bates
