(BVI Platinum News) – The matter against Guyanese, Dwaine Pearce will be heard in the Virgin Gorda court on November 11, following a postponement on Thursday.
Senior Crown Counsel Christilyn Benjamin told the court that the prosecution was not in a position to commence the trial since a few statements are outstanding. The adjournment was granted by the magistrate.
Pearce who is represented by Herbert McKenzie, is charged with attempted theft and criminal damage in relation to two separate incidents where FirstCaribbean Bank’s security camera was damaged and Banco Popular´s night deposit machine was also damaged in March.
In relation to the Banco Popular incident, information had indicated that one or more persons tried to gain entry into the night deposit machine, but from all appearances, the attempt failed.
Following the incident, police had confirmed that no money was taken.
Police have been appealing to residents and business owners to be vigilant when it comes to handling and securing personal property and money.
