Headless female body found in creek near Emerald Tower

The headless and decomposing body of a woman was found floating in a creek near Emerald Tower, Linden/Soesdyke Highway yesterday and investigators are working to ascertain if she was a victim of murder.

While the details surrounding the discovery are sketchy, this newspaper has learnt that the body was found in water and the head was missing. This was some time after 3 pm. The body was fully clothed and despite searches the head could not be found. This newspaper was unable to ascertain the woman’s identity

Up to press time last evening police had not issued a statement on the discovery.
A senior police official when contacted confirmed the discovery but said he was unaware of the details and that a crime scene team has been dispatched to the area.

The remains are at the Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
This Emerald Tower which falls under Hotel Tower is no longer in operation owing to its poor conditions. The Hotel Tower was sold some time last year.

This newspaper was told that a caretaker is in charge of the Emerald Tower.
