$75,000 bail for woman accused of receiving stolen phone

Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry granted $75,000 bail to a 24-year-old Annandale woman accused of receiving a stolen cellular phone.

Althea Isaacs of 41 Annandale Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, on September 23, at Georgetown, allegedly received from a person or persons unknown one touch screen cell phone, the property of Anthony Singh, knowing same to be stolen or unlawfully obtained. She pleaded not guilty to the charge when she on Monday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s court. Her attorney, Pamela De Santos told the court that Isaacs has no knowledge of the charge and will vigorously contest the charge.

Isaacs was ordered return to court on November 27 for statements.
