Shot man in Sophia canal identified

The decomposing body of the man found with a bullet wound in the head in a South Sophia canal was today identified as that of Devon Simpson, 34, of Kara Kara, Linden.

Simpson’s face was unrecognizable but his brother recognised the tattoo of a ganja leaf with the word `Jah Bless’ and another one  – `Shevon’, which were both on his arm.

The brother, Doreon who travelled to Lyken’s Funeral home this morning told Stabroek News that Simpson who is a porter, travelled from the mining town on Sunday to offload wood.

Relatives could not give a motive for the killing or say what Simpson might have been doing in the Sophia area.
