Zeeks’ case goes to Privy Council

(Jamaica Gleaner) – The Court of Appeal has granted former Matthew’s Lane strongman, Donald ‘Zeeks’ Phipps leave to go to the UK based Privy Council.

Zeeks’ attorney, Raphael Codlin had made the application as he wants to have his client’s double-murder convictions overturned. On July 30, the appeals court dismissed his appeal and ordered that his sentences run from August 30, 2006.

The former area leader was convicted in the Home Circuit Court in April 2006 of the murders of Leroy Rodney Farquharson and Dayton ‘Scotchbrite‘ Williams, both of Bayshore Park in east Kingston.

Supreme Court judge Horace Marsh sentenced Zeeks on May 30, 2006 to life imprisonment on each count.

He was ordered to serve 30 years before he could be eligible for parole.
