UK promises to review tourist tax

(Trinidad Express) British Prime Minister David Cameron and Foreign Secretary William Hague have given Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar a commitment to revisit the issue of the level of Air Passenger Duty (APD) imposed on tourists travelling to the Caribbean by the former Gordon Brown administration. A release from the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday said during a meeting Persad-Bissessar held with the British Prime Minister at 10 Downing Street, Cameron and Hague “were impressed with the strength of the argument put forward by Persad-Bissessar on the issue of the APD and have given a commitment to impress upon the treasury to revisit the level of these duties.”
