The PPP is resurrecting the past rather than focusing on the present

Dear Editor,

From our perspective as Guyanese nationals in the United States, it seems that the PPP is intent on resurrecting the past rather than focusing on the present. The Guyanese people are not living in the past but the present. For example, the PPP attacks the PNCR’s contestants for presidential candidate, for having served in the Burnham administration donkeys years ago.

Lest we forget, President Bharrat Jagdeo of the PPP served in the Economic Planning Unit of the PNC government. If that government was so evil, why did he serve in it? If the PNC government was racist, why did it give Mr Jagdeo a job?

The attention of the people of Guyana should be focused on the current situation in Guyana – the unbearable level of crime, fear for life and property, rampant corruption, high unemployment, the VAT tax burden, economic depression, social decline, efforts to control the news media, including the Kaieteur News, infrastructure eyesores and a bleak future.
