Israel’s Netanyahu unveils US plan for new talks

JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu showed ministers a five-point US peace plan that includes a 90-day settlement freeze, a diplomatic source said yesterday.

The US plan also includes a pledge not to seek any further extension to the freeze and calls for various US security guarantees for after a peace deal is signed.

Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, renewed under Washington’s sponsorship on Sept. 2, broke down a few weeks later when Israel balked at renewing a settlement moratorium.
