PANCAP launches re-developed website on World AIDS Day

The Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) has launched their re-developed website www.pancap.org which aims to be the primary source of comprehensive and up-to-date information about HIV and AIDS programming in the Caribbean.

The launching is timed to coincide with World AIDS Day 2010, today, and the website is funded by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), United States Government.

According to a release from the CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, it will be PANCAP’s main communication vehicle to inform a wide audience of stakeholders about PANCAP and so it will be regularly updated to include documents, project information, photos, news stories, activities and achievements from countries and partners across the region.

The new PANCAP website is interactive and its key features include interaction that speaks to graphics that are attractive; a page layout which is easier to navigate; and  an easily searchable Knowledge Centre. It has a more organized structure and content based on the priority areas of the Caribbean Regional Strategic Framework (CRSF).

It also includes  embedded videos from PANCAP past events and interviews and links to social networking sites such as Facebook and YouTube.
Meanwhile PANCAP has launched a Facebook Fan Page along with its PANCAP YouTube Channel to allow for more interaction with the users and to create a platform for discussions.

Director of PANCAP, Carl Browne said, “This new website shows credible and original content in many new forms that it did not show before. The interactive picture archive coupled with structured organized content around the CRSF makes it easier for PANCAP to provide its audience with valuable and timely information”.

The release also stated that the website will be updated weekly to give users new information about HIV and AIDS within the partnership. In that regard all PANCAP members are being encouraged to share information about their activities and programmes to ensure maximum publicity.

As part of the launch strategy, the website will be featuring a user survey and comments, feedback and suggestions about use of the website would be welcome.

PANCAP is a regional Partnership which was established in February 2001 to respond to the HIV and AIDS epidemic in the Caribbean.
Its vision is to substantially reduce the spread and impact of HIV and AIDS in the Caribbean through sustainable systems of universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support, the release added.
