Twenty motorcycles to boost crime fight

Minister of Home Affairs, Clement Rohee on Monday handed over 20 motorcycles to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) in a bid to improve local crime fighting capacity.

The Scrambler motorcycles, Rohee said, is another manifestation of the government’s commitment to increasing the mobile capacity of the GPF to ensure that they have the resources to execute their duties and responsibilities throughout the length and breadth of Guyana.

In this case especially, the Home Affairs Minister said, crime fighting in Police ‘A’ Division and more particularly in the city of Georgetown, will be improved. He also noted that the mode of transportation will be especially useful in traversing “rough terrains”.

Such investments, according to him, are made to fight crime, prevent crime, and detect crime and will go a very far way in keeping the crime situation under control and criminal elements at bay.

“If we look across the world we will see that increasingly law enforcement agencies are resorting more and more to all types of law enforcement activities in addition to maintaining the peace and keeping the good order in society,” Rohee said.

He further made a call to the ranks to whom the motorcycles will be assigned to use them in a proper and efficient manner. He reminded these ranks that they will be another face representing the GPF and as a result they will be under the constant scrutiny of the public.
