Football lovers will enjoy a treat as they fill the Guyana National Stadium to witness the kick off of the 21st edition of the prestigious Kashif and Shanghai Knockout Tournament.
The fans will have their appetites whetted with the Linden and Georgetown Under-23 teams colliding at 5pm before the official march past with all the teams gets underway at 7pm.
Following that, professional football will unveil with the Guyana All Star team going up against Atletico Roraima of Brazil from 8:30pm.
The match will be played in honour of Guyana’s Collie ‘Hitman’ Hercules and Charles ‘Lily’ Pollard.
Yesterday, Stabroek Sports caught up with coach of the Guyana All-Stars Wayne ‘Wiggy’ Dover during one of his squads training sessions at the Guyana National Stadium.
Dover stated that there are some good players in the squad and the team will be trying to give the supporters a good – decent performance.
He said “knowing that this will be a farewell to the international stage for the two football players, the guys are prepared to battle for victory.”
He added that they guys were very serious about getting as good a result as can be for the public so their approach will be more focused.
The match promises to be an intriguing one with the Atletico Roraima coach Perracio boasting that his club was one of the country’s top clubs and since they are representing the nation that is rated as one of the best in the world, they will be looking for a good performance.
He is confident that he will be able to read the opposition and make adjustments to help give his side the upper hand in the showdown.
