David/Lowe, Munroe/Franklyn capture doubles titles

The overseas-based duo of Paul David and Trenace Lowe yesterday won the mixed doubles title as the Vita Malt national Open Table Tennis championships ended at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Watched by a fair sized and appreciative crowd which included former national player Garfield Wiltshire, the pair of southpaw Lowe and David defeated Christopher Franklyn and Natalie Cummings 11-7, 12-10, 11-3.

In the third place play-off Colin France and Adielle Rosheuvel defeated Godfrey Munroe and Chelsea Edghill 6-11, 12-10, 7-11, 11-5, 11-8.

In the semi-finals Franklyn and Cummings defeated Munroe and Edghill 11-7, 3-11, 14-12, 10-12, 11-8 while David and Lowe defeated France and Rosheuvel 6-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-6.

The men’s doubles final was won by Munroe and Franklyn. The pair defeated Nigel Bryan and David 12-10, 11-8, 5-11, 11-7.
