Police club to hold awards ceremony on Friday

The Developmental and Planning Committee of the Police Progressive Youth Club will stage its 2010 Awards Ceremony on Friday at the Police Sports Club, Eve Leary.

According to a press release from the club, the ceremony is scheduled to begin at 16:00hrs, and will be held under the theme “Athletics and Academics – A Balancing Act”.

Members of the athletic club will be rewarded for their stellar athletic performances and scholastic achievements.

This will be the second awards ceremony that the club will be hosting, with the first being in 2008. The club will pay honours to the most improved male and female athlete in  both the junior and senior categories. Awards will also be made to  the junior and senior male and female athletes adjudged to be the best performing athletes for the year.

There will be an award for the male and female athletes of the year, sports personality and most disciplined athlete.

In the academics area the club’s best graduating student at this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate Examination will be honoured as well as the athlete with the best performance at the University of Guyana.
