Robber wounded by licensed firearm holder

Police said yesterday that the men attacked the licensed firearm holder with an ice-pick during the confrontation. The man then discharged the round and it is believed to have wounded one of the four, but they all managed to escape in a car.

An overseas based Guyanese had parked the car and had gone to a nearby snackette when the men broke in. A digital camera and a cell phone were reported stolen, according to the police. Investigations are continuing.

Meanwhile the police also reported that an unlicensed revolver and matching rounds were discovered on Friday after a mobile patrol carried out a search on a group of four men at Station Street Railway Line, Kitty. A .357 Magnum revolver along with 23 matching rounds and twenty .32 rounds were found in a canvas bag. The men were arrested and are in police custody assisting with investigations.
