Antigua urged to improve
its tourism product

Tourist destination Antigua and Barbuda is being urged to become more cost effective.

The country is also being told it should improve its product and promote and market itself to transform cruise passengers into stay over visitors.

The advice is coming from the President of the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association, Michele Paige, who says that Antigua and Barbuda is falling behind more popular destinations like St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands.

Paige says Antiguan authorities should take steps to attract more stay over visitors.
Child rights’ concerns

Grenadian Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) advocating for the rights of children say the island is falling short of its obligations to children.

The NGOs say in a report presented to the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child that much work has to be done in the areas of legislative implementation and the collection of data on child rights issues.

A family court and a Juvenile Correction Centre are among developments these groups want to see put in place.

The NGOs credit the government with making strides in the area of ensuring that children have access to education and health care.
