Lives are more important than possessions

Dear Editor,

A little while back a close relative experienced a broad daylight robbery just under the Stabroek Market clock. Her gold bangle was taken away in the presence of other persons who apparently just hang out there on a daily basis and did absolutely nothing to come to her rescue. She chose not to raise an alarm because she was so scared that her attacker might very well be carrying a concealed weapon and she could have sustained injuries.

The joke is that where that gold bangle came from, there are plenty more. Life is always more precious than materialistic items.
It is indeed a tragic loss that the Demerara Bank employee, Ms Sheema Mangar succumbed to her injuries after being dragged by the vehicle of the man who stole her cell phone. My respects go to the bereaved. Rest in peace SM.

This young lady’s life may have been taken tragically, but she was one very brave and courageous person to stand up to her attacker.

God forbid, but should anyone experience a similar attack, they should let go of their possesssions. Their life is more important.

Yours faithfully,
T Pemberton
