Housewife accused of snatching woman’s bangle

Londell Layne of Norton Street, Wortmanville pleaded not guilty to the charge of larceny from the person when Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson read it to her.

She denied that on February 25, she stole a gold bangle valued $75,000 from Manadevi Ramatali.

Her lawyer Sasha Roberts applied for bail on the grounds that her client had recently given birth and needs to be around to take care of her child.

However, Prosecutor Stephen Telford stated that on the day of the incident Ramatali was in Footsteps shoe store coming down the stairs when Layne approached her and snatched the bangle.

The prosecutor also noted that Layne currently has several matters of a similar nature pending against her in the court.

Layne is scheduled to make another court appearance on March 23.
