Bel Air Springs man is MoneyGram millionaire

Bel Air Springs resident Ronald McGarrell  won the $1 million  first prize in the MoneyGram International Money Transfer ‘Be a Millionaire in the New Year’ promotion at the final drawing Friday at Neal and Massy staff facilities at Ruimveldt, East Bank Demerara.

According to a release, McGarrell copped the first prize when his spin at the wheel stopped at the $1 million mark in a spin-off with seven other lucky contestants who were shortlisted from thousands of entries.

Roy Sultan of Peters Hall, East Bank Demerara secured the second prize  of $500,000 and Michelle Barker of Best Road, West Coast Demerara won the $250,000 third prize.

And taking home consolation prizes of $50,000 each were Glenda McPherson of Hopetown, West Coast Berbice,  Leila Khushmatie Prasad of Sussex Street, Stephen Leacock of Owen Street, Kitty, Desiree Alleyene of Norton Street and Bonita Mitchell James of Rosa Drive, South Ruimveldt.

Neal and Massy Group Chief Executive Officer Deo Persaud congratulated the winners and thanked them for partnering with MoneyGram.

Meanwhile, MoneyGram Manager Debbie Baldeo said that the response to the promotion was overwhelming and she thanked the customers for participating.

The promotion commenced on October 25, 2010 and concluded on January 9, 2011, attracting thousands of entries  countrywide, the release added.
