Assistant General Secretary of the Organisation of American States (OAS) Albert Ramdin says his body is ready to support the continuation of the democratic process in Guyana, as the country prepares for general and regional elections this year.
According to a release from the Guyana Elections Commis-sion (Gecom), Ramdin met the Commission’s Chairman Dr Steve Surujbally yesterday.
During the meeting, Surujbally updated Ambassa-dor Ramdin about the status of Gecom’s recently concluded Cycle of Continuous Registra-tion and “the progress being made with respect of the implementation of the tasks delineated in the Work Plan for the General and Region -2011”.
Ramdin is expected to return in March, to continue discussions and meet key stakeholders as preparations for the elections progress.
