Lambert to lead Jamaica again

KINGSTON, Jamaica,  CMC – Tamar Lambert has reclaimed his place as captain of Jamaica’s four-day team, following his axing earlier this month for the Caribbean Twenty20 Championship.

The Jamaica Cricket Association announced Friday that the 29-year-old would lead the side in the upcoming Regional First Class Championship which bowls off next week.

“The Jamaica Cricket Association is pleased to announce the appointment of … Tamar Lambert as captain of the national senior team for the 2011 Regional Four Day Tournament,” the JCA said in a release Friday.

Last year, Lambert led Jamaica to their third successive four-day title and will now preside over the squad as they host Guyana in their opening fixture here next week at Alpart Sports Club.

The Jamaica Gleaner newspaper quoted a JCA source close to the selection process as saying that Lambert’s history of success in the four-day format had gone in his favour.
