Practice match ends in a draw

The two-day practice match between Assad Fudadin’s XI and Devendra Bishoo’s XI ended in a draw at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) ground Bourda yesterday.

The game, which was played in preparation for the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) First Class tournament that starts on Friday, saw Bishoo’s X1 reaching 131-4, replying to Fudadin’s X1 337-4 declared.

Trevon Griffith and Anthony Bramble were the not out batsmen on 28 and nine respectively.

At the start of yesterday’s final day, Assad Fudadin’s X1 resuming on 222-2 with the captain on nine 9 and Vishaul Singh on 13, had reached 47 and 44 respectively  after adding 97 for the third wicket by  the time they were called in.

Royston Crandon chipped in with 17 while Derwin Christian contributed 11. Bishoo ended with 2-27 while Brandon Bess and Steven Jacobs took one wicket each.

When Bishoo’s X1 replied they lost three wickets by the time the score reached 48. Richard Ramdeen was bowled by Keon Joseph for 17 and Paul Wintz removed Steven Jacobs for three and Gajanand Singh for 23.

Christopher Barnwell and Trevon Griffith added 71 before Barnwell was dismissed for 43 included five fours.

Meanwhile, on Friday Rajendra Chandrika scored an even century while Leon Johnson (50) and Shemroy Barrington (42) made solid scores.

Guyana will play Jamaica from February 4-7 in Jamaica in their first game.
