Solozano shines as T&T Under-19s beat Canada

COUVA, Trinidad,  CMC – Opener Jeremy Solozano struck an unbeaten half-century to help fire Trinidad and Tobago’s Under-17s to a convincing seven-wicket win over Canada’s Under-19s here Monday.

His solid 74 helped guide the hosts to 177 for three off 45.5 overs, overhauling Canada’s 176 all out off their 50 overs at the National Cricket Centre.

Solozano counted five fours off 141 balls in his knock, while Andy Gobin scored 34 and captain Vikash Mohan, 31 not out.

Earlier, Manny Aulakh scored an unbeaten 39 to help Canada to their eventual total, with Jesse Bootan leading the attack with four for 21 and Jovan Ali (2-25) and Jonathan Hurst (2-29) claiming two wickets apiece.

Canada are spending one week here preparing for the ICC Under-19 qualifiers to be held in Miami, Florida from February 9.
