Seven GCB board members recognize Bissoondyal Singh DCB executive

President of the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB), Bissoondyal Singh says that he, along with six other Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) executives have recognised the new office bearers of the DCB headed by him as the legitimate set.

He added that his executive was declared legitimate by the seven executives with the signing of a document that also states the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Lusignan Community Centre on January 22 was the legitimate AGM. A rival AGM was held at Wales on the same day and a different executive was elected headed by Raj Singh.

The seven of the 13 GCB executives signing the letter are Singh, Claude Raphael, Michael Franco, Carl Moore, Ronald Williams, Keith Foster and Pretipaul Jaigobin. The letter was addressed to the President of the GCB Chetram Singh and “the executives of the Guyana Cricket Board”.

The letter seen by Stabroek News read: “We the executives of the Guyana Cricket investigated and examined relevant materials pertaining to the Annual General Meeting which included but was not limited to court orders, competition committee reports, minutes of executives meetings, notice of Annual General Meetings, video footages [of Annual General Meetings and executive meetings], etc.

“It is our firm and only conclusion that the legitimate Annual General Meeting of the DCB was held at Lusignan on January 22”.

Bissoondyal Singh stated that the seven executives have recognized his executives who were elected at the January 22 meeting at Lusignan as the DCB office bearers for the 2011-2013 term.

He added that the Bissondyal Singh-led DCB has also been registered with the friendly societies and the newly elected DCB is now a member of the GCB “based on the constitution of the GCB”.

He stated that the office of the Registrar of the Friendly Societies registered and issued a certificate of registration after his executives had applied. Bissoondyal Singh stated that his DCB was registered last Friday by the Friendly Societies and quoted the registration number as “1216”.

He added that this is the first time the DCB has been registered with the Friendly Societies. The “madness that happened can’t happen again” without the Friendly Societies’ intervention. Relating some of his plans for the future as DCB president, Bissoondyal Singh said that sub-committees have already been formed and they are working towards developing and taking cricket forward, along with sponsorship and fundraising. “We are trying to eradicate the negative image and place cricket where it belongs”. He added that they are also making a plea to members of the rival faction to join and assist with the process.
“Cricket must win in the end”, he  said
