Boy, 9, found hanging at poultry farm

A nine-year-old boy was found hanging at a Gangoo Creek, East Bank Berbice poultry farm yesterday, in what is a case of suspected suicide.

Richard Mohammed was discovered hanging from the rafter of one of the chicken pens by his stepfather.

Mohammed lived on the farm with his mother, Zarina Mohammed and his stepfather, Mohammed Bacchus.

It is reported that before he was found hanging, the boy had requested to go to Light Town to play with a friend. He was, however, denied permission.

The boy later went in the vicinity of the chicken pens and it was during subsequent checks on him that he was found hanging by a cord.

Police have since launched investigations and a post-mortem examination is to be performed shortly.
