Guyanese man deported from Calgary for string of crimes

Gordon (Junior) Nedd once beat a manslaughter charge, but the Guyanese man’s long criminal career in Calgary, Canada eventually caught up with him and he was deported back here, according to a news report.

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced today that it deported Nedd, 38, to Guyana earlier this week, according to the Calgary Herald.

CBSA officers escorted Nedd to Guyana on Tuesday, citing convictions for possession of stolen property, breaking and entering and drugs as reasons for his deportation.

The report said that the most notorious episode of Nedd’s criminal career, however, did not result in a conviction. In 1997, it said that Nedd fatally stabbed Hussein (Sam) Amery during a fight outside an apartment block.

The confrontation arose out of a dispute over an auto repair bill, with Nedd accusing Amery of overcharging him. Nedd had testified in court that Amery reached into the accused’s coat and was able to grab a knife that he carried. Nedd then stabbed Amery in the abdomen as the men struggled for control of the weapon, the report said.

A judge acquitted Nedd, saying that he could not rule out the possibility that the stabbing was accidental.
