Ministry met medical bills of staff who fell through Mahaica hospice floor – Thomas

In a Sunday Stabroek (20/02/11) article on the Mahaica Hospice it was stated that Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Human Services and Social Security Trevor Thomas had stated that he was unaware that a nursing staff had fallen through a rotten flooring at one of the cottages.

While this newspaper did ask Thomas the question it was not made clear that it was a staff member to whom the reporter was referring and it could have been misconstrued as a resident of the facility.

Thomas has since indicated he had not heard the question about the staff member and made it clear that the ministry is aware that a staff member had fallen and injured herself. He said the ministry has met all of the staff member’s medical bills and she continues to visit the ministry as the healing process continues.
