Three charged over Region 10 $5M robbery

Three men accused of robbing the Region Ten Regional Democratic Council (RDC) of $5M today appeared before acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

The allegation against Mervin Blackman, 20; Samuel Rodney, 20 and 29-year-old Cecil Pollard is that on February 17 at Republic Avenue, McKenzie Linden; being armed with a gun, they robbed Compton Daly of $5M, property of the Region’s RDC.

The jointly charged trio was not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbery under arms when it was read to them.

Attorneys Adrian Thompson and Glenn Hanoman made pleas for the defendants to be granted their pre-trial liberty.

The magistrate however put down the matter for a later ruling.

Blackman resides at M24 Tucville, Georgetown; while Rodney lives at 606 Retrieve, McKenzie, Linden. Pollard, also a Linder resides at 1451 Amelia’s Ward.
