Health ministry hosts guidance session at Multi

Minister within the Ministry of Health Dr Bheri Ramsaran donated a number of books to the North Ruimveldt Multilateral School library during a joint tour with officials from the education ministry.

“The reason the school was targeted was because it is within the vicinity of the newest health centre, East La Penitence Health Centre” he said, adding that it was built with the community in mind and boasts recreational facilities. The visit aimed at enhancing and strengthening greater cooperation within the education sector, a press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said.

Dr Ramsaran interacted with several students and advised them on career and training opportunities in the sector. He said this initiative is part of the ministry’s plan to provide guidance to students at an early age so that they can work towards building a career of their choice. The minister challenged the students to participate in the many programmes available within the health sector such as dental health and pharmacy assistant.

Coordinator at the Dental School Dr Shameer Ali also informed the students about the programmes offered at the University of Guyana and at the Dental Health Unit of the School and at the Dental Health School.

GINA said District Education Officer Brahadevi Persaud welcomed the health ministry’s initiative. She said her ministry was happy to partner with the ministry so that children could benefit from the exercise.
