‘Dew Fish’ remanded over knifepoint robbery of fisherman in Berbice

A man who allegedly robbed a fisherman of his catch, among other items, was refused bail and remanded to prison by Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo at the New Amsterdam Court.

Police Corporal Sherlock King, prosecuting, said that on March 8 David Williams, called ‘Dew Fish’ and ‘Dog Face’, being armed with a knife robbed Robert Paul of his mountain bicycle, a torchlight, a cast net, a bottle of mosquito repellent, a black haversack, a quake, 40lbs of hassar, and $15,000, totalling $70,000.

Paul was on his way home from a fishing expedition around 5 am on the day in question when he was allegedly attacked by the accused.

The unrepresented defendant is to return to court on April 1.
