Meals will be distributed free of cost, the release noted. The facility is now being constructed and is scheduled to be opened in August this year.

It is expected that beneficiaries will have access to bathroom and shower facilities and personal assistance, a fresh change of clothes and lunch which will be served from 11am to 3pm daily.

Moreover, a take away bowl will also be enjoyed by beneficiaries.

Nasir has said that providing services through a soup kitchen has always been a dream of his and he is happy to be able to realize his dream with this partnership.

Meanwhile, Minister of Human Services and Social Security Priya Manickchand said the government is extremely pleased to be engaging with a member of the private sector to further provide service to Guyana’s  people and would welcome such initiatives by other persons, the release stated.

“This facility,” the minister said, “adds to the numerous services the government already provides and would compliment beautifully government’s support to the vulnerable.”
