Decomposing body of Triumph man found in home

Mohan Singh’s decomposing remains were yesterday morning found in his Triumph, East Coast Demerara home and while foul play is not suspected, police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination.

Singh, 55, of Lot 45 Side Line Dam, Agriculture Road, East Coast Demerara had re-migrated to Guyana several years ago from the British Virgin Islands, where his four children and wife Ann still reside.

Singh’s niece Lalita said that when she and her husband arrived to pick mangoes at their uncle’s residence, they found the gate open. She said that later she called to her uncle but got no answer so she decided to check for him. She walked into the house and saw Singh’s bloated body lying on a mattress.

Singh’s sister Doreen Kendall said that the yard is family property and so “everybody does come and go.” According to Kendall, her brother was not ill. She last saw him about a month ago when he visited her home. She added that “there was nothing looking suspicious.”

She said Singh re-migrated due to domestic problems and began drinking heavily. He resided alone.
