Over 68 horses entered for horse race meet at Arima Park Sunday  

Preparations are underway for this Sunday’s pre-Easter horse race meet organised by the Rising Sun Turf club at Arima Park, West Coast Berbice.

Over 68 of the country’s top race horses have taken entry for the day’s nine-race programme. Close to $3.5M in cash, trophies and other incentives are up for grabs with Banks DIH Limited sponsoring the feature B class event over a distance of 1300m.

Among the horses entered for this top notch event, which has a winner’s prize of $450,000, are The Message, Fairy Landing, Prince Charming, Night Crescendo, Marathon Man, Wad A Luck, Gullium, Miss Orientate, King Maker and Delmur Gold. Dubai Dutchess, Celebration Time, Sabrina Joy, Princes Yasmin, Better than Gold, Spread the News, Fresh Prospect, Super Cat, Wicked Intention, Apostle, Royal Salute, Million Dollar Man, Got to go and Bounty Flyer are some of the other horses entered.

There is also the three-year-old event for horses bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies which has a winner’s prize tag of $250,000. The other three-year- old event will be for horses bred and born in Guyana and that has a winning ticket of $200,000 and a trophy.

In the E Class the winner will receive $180,000 and a trophy while the G and Lower showdown winner will pocket $150,000 and a trophy. The H Class winner’s prize is set at $140,000 and a trophy; the I and Lower will cart off $130 000 and a trophy.

Additionally, there will be an event for animals classified I-3 and Lower with one win; the winner will run away with $120,000 and a trophy. Also on the day’s roster is the K Class 1300m run that will see the winning horse taking away $90,000 and a trophy.

Meanwhile, top individual performers including champion jockey, trainer and stable will receive trophies and other incentives, compliments of  Rising Sun Turf Club and The Trophy Stall, Bourda Market. Banks DIH Limited headlines the list of sponsors that have come on board so far with Digicel, Jumbo Jet Auto sale, Cummings Electrical, Romell Jagroop Construction, Chester Fry Chicken of Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice, Hablaw’s Meat Centre of Georgetown, Dalip Trading, Toucan Industries and Poultry Supplies, Sheriff Racing Stables and businessman Ramesh Sunich of The Trophy Stall, Bourda Market are some of the other businesses on board.
