I wish to thank Janette Bulkan for her well researched letter in the SN, ‘Is the Vaitarna forest concession another Asian scam like Barama?’ (April 12).
In addition to the points made by Ms Bulkan, I would like to know if the Indian company, Vaitarna Holdings Private Inc would be made accountable with regard to responsible environmental husbandry. Will there be an environmental impact assessment before the harvesting of lumber is done? If not, why not?
