Man nabbed with gun after poultry outlet robbery

A security guard was early yesterday morning attacked by gunmen who later broke into a Campbellville poultry outlet and stole $10,000.

A suspect was later held a short distance away with a gun in his possession.

Police said in a press release that around 02:00 hrs security guard Vibert Singh who was working at a poultry outlet at Campbell Avenue and Sheriff Street, Georgetown, was attacked and held up by three men armed with handguns.

The men then broke into the building and took away the cash which was in a drawer and escaped.

According to the release, the police responded promptly to the report and stopped and searched a man who was seen in Campbell Avenue and in whose possession a 9 mm Luger pistol with 7 matching rounds was found.

The man is assisting the police with their investigations.
