Prince Charming takes $450,000 from top field

Colin Elcock Stable’s Prince Charming registered a commanding victory over a top field of horses to take the C class race when the Rising Sun Turf Club held its pre-Easter horse race at the West Coast, Berbice, facility.

In brilliant sunshine Prince Charming, ridden by Jamaican Jockey Andron Findley, was unstoppable after taking control of the race at the back stretch and riding to victory unchallenged. By winning the event it carted off the Banks DIH trophy and $450,000.

Night Crescendo of the Crawford Stable came through for second while Little Pannie and Stormy Flame could not stand the heat and finished third and fourth respectively.

Irish Girl of the Lenny Singh Stable once again won the Three-year-old race for West Indian bred horses and carted away $250,000 and trophies, compliments of Dalip Trading and James Singh. Ridden by Krishna Singh the animal won from gate to pole, beating into submission Spanish Love and Princess Yasmin.

The E class event was won by Pinch de Cash of the Rumour’s Racing Stable with a come-from-behind victory. Ridden by Findley, the horse roared from behind to secure the $240,000 winner’s prize and the Rommel Jagroop Construction Company trophy. The Gap held on for second ahead of Frankie’s Sweetheart.

And Super Cat continued its impressive run with its sixth consecutive win. Ridden by Colin Ross out of the Rommel Jagroop’s Construction Stable, the horse took the Three-year-old event for hoses bred locally.

The animal held off rivals Wicked Intention, Royal Salute and JD Junior to take home $200,000 and the Digicel trophy.
Findley was once again in winner’s circle, this time atop Stormy Lass of the Habibulla Stable. He piloted the horse from behind in the G Class to knock out front runners Bob’s Fortune, South Sea and Stylish Line. That win fetched a top prize of $150,000 and trophy from the Sheriff Racing Stable.

Prixie Fire, ridden by Daniel Flores, was too hot to handle as it raced to victory in the H Class event. The win was worth $140,000, compliments of Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, along with the Dr. Kawal Dalip trophy. Sun Raiser, Dream Girl and Finishing Touch respectively were the other horses in the money.

Quincy was a double winner, racing away with the two I Class races. Owned and trained by Sherwin Neblett of the Neblett Stables and ridden by Harry Narine, the animal first took care of business in the I-3 event before winning the I class race.

The Cummings Electrical I class event was worth $130,000 while the Toucan Industries I-3 race fetched $120,000. The wins were the animal’s first victories.
