Taxi driver struck down at Coldingen

Taxi diver Ramesh Pattiram was last evening rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital after being struck down by a speeding car at the Coldingen turn, on the East Coast Demerara.

The man sustained head injuries as well a broken left leg. He also badly injured his left arm, this newspaper was told.

According to an eyewitness Pattiram was standing on road side chatting with two other taxi drivers when a speeding car came around the bend and hit Pattiram. The man was pitched several feet away before landing on a rail at the side of the road, this newspaper was told.

The driver of the vehicle after stopping for a while subsequently fled the scene Stabroek News understands.
